OMG. it’s happened – Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie, the golden couple of Hollywood, have split after 12 years of marriage and the internet has gone CRAZY.

What a pair of a-holes

Accusations of infidelity, dope smoking, booze glugging, and general debauchery on Brad’s part are being thrown around and the Jen memes are on over-drive.

And I’m on the edge of my seat.

Alas, however, not everyone seems to be as entertained by the news as I am and many saw it as their social media duty last night, to remind the twitterspere that divorce was not a laughing matter and that Angelina’s humanitarian work was what we should be focusing on not the break down of her marriage.

*Slaps self on wrist*

Now, make no mistake, I don’t dance a merry jig around the grave of all celebrity marriages but on this occasion, I can’t help but feel that, it’s fairly tricky to be sympathetic towards the couple.

After all, the relationship started in a fairly scandalous way did it not? Pitt at the time, being married to Jennifer Aniston, when he first met Angelina on the set Of Mr. & Mrs. Smith, leaving her for Angelina fairly swiftly after.

Which is not my issue. People fall in love, people split up, shit happens.

Sensitivity at its very best

In fact you’ll often find me fighting the corner of the ‘other women’ – all too often blamed for the break up, when actually it’s the men who are in the relationship and doing the dirty.

However, what I found so Eurgg at the time (and ever since) was how Jolie told everyone who’d listen about what incredible chemistry she had with Pitt even though she fully knew he was a married man.

to add to that, incase it didn’t hurt enough, the couple then went on to do *that* W magazine shoot.

I mean seriously, THE PAIN.

Sure, they were promoting a film but really? Where was the sensitivity? Where was the class?

I would never blame two people for falling in love, which they obviously were, but flaunting it so blatantly at the expense of someone else’s broken heart (regardless of whether you are promoting a film or not) firmly cemented me in team Jen forever more.

Because the bottom line is, if you’re going to steal someone else’s husband, or leave your wife for someone else (no judgment here)  for God’s sake do it with a bit of style and keep your gushing love declarations to yourself in consideration for the devastation you might have left behind.

I don’t believe in Karma, but if I did …
