What a gorgeous day I had yesterday, at one of London’s leading boutique salons, Giannasso led by the hair maestro and L’Oreal Colour Specialist – Sergio Giannasso. Being the type of gal who’s had the same hairdresser for the last fifteen years, and freaks out when someone suggest more than an inch off the ends, testing out a new place really was a big deal for me and I’m happy to report Giannasso’s did not disappoint!
The salon is on St Martin’s Lane, in the heart of Covent Garden, and, not only was I greeted with warm smiles from the friendly staff, but tea and home-made tiramisu to boot – you don’t get more Italian than that!
Sergio, himself, agreed to do my hair and where I am used to a quick wash and blow dry it made a pleasant change to have an in-depth pre-cut consultation, where we looked into the condition (good) style (safe) and colour (far too dark for my age – the horror!) of my hair.
Actually, mid-life ombre suggestion aside, it made a refreshing change to really have someone who knew about hair to give me an honest rundown of what would best suit me – should I ever be brave enough for a new style and colour!
I decided on this occasion, however, to stick with what I knew, and after an amazing wash and head massage using the wonderful natural Neal Wolf Ritual products, Sergio got down to work, without any pressure to go shorter than I wanted, and with a real understanding for the texture of my hair.
Sergio gave me a fantastic cut and a fresh modern blow dry, updating me, throughout, about how to repeat it at home.
I had an amazing experience at Giannasso and would recommend the salon to anyone, fantastic staff, great location and a super cut and blow dry … watch this space for my transformation to blonde!
