With over 1400 dating apps floating around (at last count!) it’s surprising fair to say it’s not often I come across one that really stands out – as a consequence, I get very excited when I come across one that does! Trueview is one such app.

From the branding to the ethos behind the app, it comes across as fresh, fun and most importantly, somewhere you are really likely to connect with someone. I’d like to welcome them to my blog today to tell us a bit more about the thinking behind the app, why they felt there was a gap in the, already swamped, market and what exactly it is about Trueview that makes it so special! …

Millions of online daters have become disillusioned with the ‘hot-or-not’ shallowness of dating apps such as Tinder and Happn. With up to 988 million rejections on Tinder each day alone and phones sitting without countless matches that never develop beyond the inbox, it’s no surprise people are logging off.

Even celebrities like Sam Smith are rejecting the hook-up culture: “No offence to people who go on Tinder, but I just feel like it’s ruining romance…why would I swipe people who are “unattractive” when I could potentially fall in love with them? Stop Tinder and Grindr!”

TrueView a free, award-winning, location-based dating app, was created as a response to singletons’ disillusionment with the current status of online dating. The idea started when co-founder Andrew Ibbotson’s got frustrated by his own unlucky-in-love online dating experience. After spending lots of time money and effort, he felt there must be a better way to meet people online. Teaming up with friends Matt Verity and Damian Mitchell, the three young East London entrepreneurs came up with a service that uses real-time micro-blogging to put real people at the heart of the app. What they developed was a social network that works much like Twitter or Facebook, allowing users to check in, select their interests and update their statuses on the go. It gives potential love matches a glimpse into their life to discover the real person behind the profile without the cringe-worthy sales pitch needed for online dating sites.

“TrueView works by logging a person’s actual behaviour to create a ‘true view’ of who they are. Users can share things they love to do as they happen. They can then discover and chat with people who have similar interests. That means the app can introduce users to the right people and start great conversations online. Then when they finally meet, that first date conversation can then simply continue from where they left off,” says Andrew Ibbotson.

The reality of 21st century life means that our time is stretched further than ever before. Finding time to look for love in the real world is becoming increasingly difficult but when we’re presented with too much choice online, studies show we suffer decision fatigue. Sometimes love needs a helping hand but TrueView is the next evolution in online dating – by rejecting the endless stream of identikit profiles on current dating apps, it offers curated choice for the time-strapped on-the-go generation.

“The reality of 21st century life means that our time is stretched further than ever before. Finding time to look for love in the real world is becoming increasingly difficult but when we’re presented with too much choice online, studies show we suffer decision fatigue.” I totally agree with this! Well, online dating was already a trend before.
